Native American Flute:  Group Classes

Many fall in love with the Native American Flute. Some buy an instrument, but discover that they do not know how to recreate the sounds and songs on the recordings that inspired them. What they are missing cannot be found in books, and experienced players do not always know how to teach.

The Native American Flute Art and Harmony (NAFAH) Study Group is for you who want to learn more and find a deeper connection with your flute.

We will explore BREATH, POSTURE, FINGERING, PHRASING, RHYTHM and STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVISATION. You can expect a playful and dedicated atmosphere - little talk and much music. Everyone is welcome; beginners and experienced. No previous musical background is needed.

STREAM OHRSTROM is a seasoned flute player, teacher and group facilitator. He makes bamboo flutes; the collection of hundreds of flutes and instruments in his studio spans the world. Stream is also a drummer. He performs with his own group THE BLUE DRAGONS.

The Group will meet in Stream’s studio on THE FIRST SATURDAY of every month, , beginning September 5, 2009. Cost: $15 per 2 hour session.

Location: ONECIRCLE CENTER, Aspen Hill, (Silver Spring), MD.
